iRewardChart: Chore Tracker App Reviews

Really great app !!!

I personalised it for each of my children. They love to tip on the stars because the sound is so nice. I am also using it for my bigger child to keep track of his good marks. Sonia (Paris)

Close, but no cigar

In short: - not fully working with iOS9 -> cant take or select images for the child -> Dropbox sync faulty or slow as hell, meaning not usable -> language support for some more regions would be appreciated, but thats up to how the app is also designed. Got some feeling that a lot of stuff is hard coded, as at least "one" predefined entry for behaviour, which I definitely changed, showed up when adding another childs entity and that was not editable at all, meaning a zombie entry - which also does not show good signs of quality assurance. I know what Im talking about, so dont even think about stating "how will you know?" Further more, they do not react in any way when sending feedback. And, as already stated, the app could need a visual overhaul, ideally with iPad support, but hey, Id be happy if they fixed adding pictures and improved the Dropbox sync. In total: try the free version and rather, if possible, code your own version or create an Excel or Google Sheets file that can help doing the same basically than buying the full prices version, which is just FAULTY. Oh, and the editing options, meaning the usability, are far beyond ideal. No catastrophe, but far from user-friendly. The main GUI starts ok-ish, but then the whole rest just goes south, as if the whole functionality was thought of while being coded by at least three different people - in different states.

Great tool

This is the best behavior management app for parents and children that I have seen. Ive been using behavior management with my children for years, using the Barclay model with the help of a professional psychologist. I bought this app to update and refresh the token economy weve had running in our family- I found that as our children grew older the poker chips we were using were becoming a little stale. This app refreshed things nicely, and everyone is excited about rewards again, even though our payout rates have remained the same. I think my children like the sophistication of the electronic interface compared to the jars they used before, and the happy/sad sounds the app makes when good/poor stars are awarded. The portability is probably my favorite feature. The only problem I found with the app is that is seems geared more for an end of day accounting, as opposed to more immediate feedback. Each task/responsibility can earn at most 1 star per day. This works great for items such as "Homework", but since I use behavior management more for things like "co-operating with your sister" I need to be able to award stars immediately (making the reinforcement more effective), and multiple times each day. For example, I want to award a star when my son co-operates with his sister on the walk to school, when they clear the lunch dishes together, and when they play together after school. Awarding one star for "co-operation" generally at the end of the day is too diffuse, and doesnt allow me to pin point specific positive and negative choices throughout the day, when they are actually being made. This wasnt difficult to work around- I just made multiple task entries for the same task: co-operating 1, co-operating 2, co-operating 3 . . . Its not exactly elegant, but it does the trick. The only downside to this is it makes it harder for me to show the progress the children are making in a specific area. Where I can quickly see the total for "Homework" and provide appropriate praise (Great job, you did your homework every day this week!"), I have to then mentally tabulate the sum of the different co-operation items to get the total score (Wow! Youve earned 24 co-operation stars this week! Have you noticed that you and your sister seem happier and are having more fun together?") All in all, though, this is a very a small inconvenience. I find that overall, with this app, my efforts with my children are more potent at shaping specific positive behaviors, and the overall supervision effort required of me is decreased, compared to our previous program.

Amazing tool

This app is a great way to encourage and track positive behaviour. My children helped create their own rewards and came up with ways of earning stars. It allowed them to be involved and when they arent listening or following rules I just have to remind them of the behaviours that they chose to monitor. This app also makes it super easy to trade stars in for rewards and can all be found at the palm of my hand. As a Mom of 3 I just want to say Thanks for such a useful app!

Original, intuitive, and useful

Great idea. This application is very useful to parents raising kidz.

3 teens

I like the way you can add rewards easily although it would be nice if we could create one set of chores for a family without having to retype them for each individuals. I love the half star. No kid want a half star but are not always willing to do the full work.

Thank you!

My kids are loving this app and so are we. Todays kids are into computers and video games and this app appeals to them much more than a paper chart fill of stickers. My kids are actually taking the initiative and completing tasks without reminders now. Its even working with my 13 year old! I love it!

Good, but a little rigid

This is a really good idea for an app, but there a few things I would like to be different. I wish after payout on a day I could still use the same day to add stars to; I use it at work and the child gets frequent reinforcement, not just at the end of the day. I would also like if adding stars and taking them away were separate so the child could see how many were taken away, instead of the balance of positive minus negative. I would also like to replace the headings of the tasks (behavior, responsibilities, etc.) to what suited my purposes best. It would be excellent if I could add pictures to each reward, and I think parents with children who cant read would like this too.

See the best of your kids!!

Please, ensable the "upload to server" function so we can sync iPhone and iPad. And please improve graphoc reslolution for iPad! I love this app, but cant use it on the iPad since all my data was started on the iPhone!

iPad please

I love the app, can you update it for the iPad, it is pretty granule.

Great but needs some work

4 stars because the concept is great. I find it very frustrating though that you can not go back inane change chores or rewards. This is a huge time constraint if one has to re-set it all up just to add a task or a reward. Would greatly appreciate the edit side be worked on :) thanks

Its ok.

This app is a good start but needs a few more features. You should be able to add or change task categories. Also it would be nice if you could change the order that tasks display in. It would be great to break down tasks into morning, day, evening, etc. Some colour would be nice. Its annoying that it needs to access the Internet. Im going to keep looking for an app that has these features. Make these changes and Ill keep using it!

needs improvements

Good app, but needs a description under tasks and no internet access. Other obvious things are missing and it crashes frequently.

Well made app

Well made easy to use.

Excellent!

It does the job! After one week, we still use it everyday and the kids collaborate a lot.

Awesome app!!

Love this app. Have 4 kids age 4,6,8,10 and have been using every day for two months. Kids love it and are starting to save up for bigger rewards. I like being able to assign different tasks to each kid. Only thing I wish is that the list of recent rewards showed only the rewards associated with a particular child rather than everyones. Id like to see what type of payouts each child has been receiving. Would also love to sync with my hubbys blackberry so he could be more involved. Love this app though. Best reward method Ive ever used!!!!

Love it!

This app has been wonderful for my kids that are 3 and 5. They get stars for sharing, not yelling, doing their chores, etc. Its been highly motivating for them.

Our opinion

Its just an amazing app for parents to use wow

Very useful

Great app for positive reinforcement. Kids and parents love it. Love that we can add our own tasks. Thanks.

Rave response from the kiddos

I have 6 kids ranging from 0-8, my 8 year old has ADHD. This app went over AMAZING with all of them. It especially helps my 8 yr old try harder to keep his focus and behavior under control. My 2 year old doesnt quite understand the concept but she loves pushing the buttons and loves paying herself rewards. I like that I can customize the chart and rewards to be appropriate for each child. The only thing that frustrates me is that once the initial setup is complete I cant get back in to edit the rewards.
